4 Online MBA Options Now Available

Nationally recognized Bowling Green State University (BGSU) now offers four online MBA programs to help professionals advance their careers. In addition to a general MBA, students can choose from specialized MBAs in accounting, finance, and supply chain management.

Why Choose BGSU for an MBA?

There are hundreds of online MBA programs, so it’s important to know you’re choosing the right school. Accreditation is a good way to assess credibility. Like top business schools such as Harvard, BGSU is accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB International).

BGSU’s business school is one of only 188 worldwide to hold dual AACSB accreditation in business and accounting. AACSB is considered the gold standard in business education, a sign that BGSU’s MBA programs meet high quality standards.

BGSU has extensive experience in online education. Notably, BGSU is one of only six universities nationally — and the only one in Ohio — that has earned the Quality Matters (QM) Online Learner Support Certification. QM is a sign that BGSU is invested in meeting standards for quality courses.

Highlights of BGSU’s MBA Options

There is enormous value in earning your Master of Business Administration (MBA): high demand for the degree from employers, excellent salaries, and promotional opportunities.

The demand for MBA talent is well-documented. A 2019 GMAC Corporate Recruiters Survey shows that 77% of employers plan to hire new MBA graduates. The question may be whether to choose a general MBA or get a head start on a specific career with a specialized MBA.

Poets & Quants listed nine MBA programs with a total cost to students of over $200,000, as of December 2018. Tuition for each program is an affordable $595 per credit hour ($606 for out-of-state). All programs are 30 credit hours and can be completed in as few as 12 months.

Here is an overview of BGSU’s four MBA options.

  1. General MBA

A general MBA provides a strong foundation for leadership roles in any industry. Graduates can pursue diverse careers such as general manager, director of operations and entrepreneur.

Salaries for management occupations are the highest of all major occupations, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). The median salary for managers was $104,240 per year, as of May 2018.

  1. MBA with a Concentration in Accounting

This program prepares graduates for managerial accounting roles such as controller, accounting manager and financial reporting analyst. It also paves the way to a Chief Finance Officer role.

The Corporate Recruiters Survey puts annual salaries for MBA hires in finance and accounting at $125,000, a jump of $10,000 over the median base starting salary for all MBA grads.

  1. MBA with a Concentration in Finance

Finance is one of the top three job functions companies plan to fill with MBA graduates based on the Corporate Recruiters Survey. Demand for financial managers, for example, will grow 16% from 2018 to 2028, much faster than average.

Finance MBAs also earn some of the highest salaries in business occupations. The BLS puts the median annual wage for financial managers at $127,990, as of May 2018.

  1. MBA with a Concentration in Supply Chain Management

This program has the distinction of making the Gartner 2018 Supply Chain University Top 25. This ranking helps employers recruit top talent from the best programs.

Salary.com puts the supply chain manager salary range for MBAs at $106,571 – $114,659 per year, as of December 2019. At the executive level, salaries can soar to $300,520.

With a top-ranked MBA from BGSU, graduates can rest assured that their career will get a boost from a degree that meets the highest standards.
